Here’s what’s open and closed on Victoria Day in Windsor-Essex

The unofficial start of a Canadian summer will look as close to normal as it last did three years ago.
Victoria Day is a statutory holiday in Canada, the only British Commonwealth nation with a holiday honoring Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901 and was Queen at Canada’s Confederation. Many businesses and institutions will be either closed or on reduced hours Monday.
All federal, provincial, and municipal offices and town halls are closed Monday. There will be no Canada Post delivery. Service Ontario offices will be closed, though some transactions can be done online.
The four public school boards serving Windsor-Essex will take Monday off, with classes resuming Tuesday.
Certain locations of The Beer Store will be open on Victoria Day from 11 am to 6 pm The LCBO will also have selected outlets open on Monday.
All branches of the Windsor Public Library are closed Monday, and hours will switch to the summer schedule on Tuesday. The Essex County Library is also closed Victoria Day.
Devonshire Mall is open from 11 am to 6 pm Monday, Tecumseh Mall is open from 11 am to 5 pm, and Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open 10 am to 6 pm
Many chain restaurants and big-box stores will be either closed or on reduced hours Victoria Day. Be sure to call ahead to avoid disappointment.
The 311 call center will close Monday and reopen on Tuesday from 8 am to 4 pm 311 services are available via the app. The 211 call center is open 24 hours as usual.
There will be no garbage or recycling pickup in Windsor or Essex County. That will be delayed by a day in Windsor, and residents should check their Waste Collection Calendar for more information. Commercial garbage collection will take place as usual.
All City of Windsor arenas, community centers, and pools are closed Monday, with the exception of the advance polling stations at the WFCU Center and the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Centre, in advance of the provincial election.
The Windsor Spitfires will host an OHL Western Conference Finals game against the Flint Firebirds on Monday at 7:05 pm
The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H-4) day program at Windsor Water World is open from 8:30 am to 6 pm to help those dealing with homelessness.
Adventure Bay Family Water Park is closed due to ongoing COVID-19 protocols, although staff is being recalled and retrained with the hope of a reopening later this summer.
The Francois Baby House and Chimczuk Museum in Windsor are closed Monday, their normal day off.
There will be no parking enforcement on Windsor streets Monday, and metered parking will be free. Paid garages and lots will take payment as usual. Ticket payments can still be made online.
Transit Windsor buses will run on the Sunday and holiday schedule on Victoria Day. The Customer Service Office on Chatham Street West will be open from 8 am to 4 pm, but the sales office on North Service Road East is closed.
