Make your own herbal tea blend at a free program Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 6:30 pm at the Manchester Public Library Whiton Branch, 100 North Main St.
Nora Toomey, clinical herbalist at True Bloom, will explore the flavors and properties of several medicinal herbs and review herbal tea recipes for common ailments that can be treated at home.
This program is for adults only, 18 and older. Registration is required; call the library at 860-645-0821.
Windsor Lions Club food collection
The Windsor Lions Club will hold a drive-through non-contact food drive Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 am to 1 pm to benefit the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank. The collection will take place rain or shine in the parking lot of LP Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Ave. in Windsor, which is also the site of the food bank.
Lions members will unload donations of non-perishable food (no glass containers, please) from your car.
Items especially needed include canned chicken, baked goods, coffee, tea, canned pasta, baked beans, condiments, crackers, cereal, and canned fruits and vegetables, as well as personal hygiene items.
Donations also may be made of cash, checks, and credit cards. Checks should be made out to: The Lions Club Charitable Foundation of Windsor (note WFFB in the memo line); 100 percent of all donations will go to the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.
