Possible salmonella contamination prompts food recall in Windsor, Ont.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for a desert sold in Windsor because of a possible salmonella contamination.
Dijla & Al-Forat Market has recalled the Bustan brand pistachio tahini halawa. The market, located at 701 Wyandotte Street East, has sold the product, according to the inspection agency.
Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but can still make people sick, the food inspection agency warns. People with weakened immune systems, young children, pregnant women and the elderly may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
