Windsor police investigators of financial crimes remind the public — and businesses in particular — of the importance of due diligence when completing transactions.

“False identification can appear very legitimate on its face,” Windsor police said. “Take extra steps if required to confirm a person’s identity. If something appears suspicious, please do not hesitate to contact police.”

The investigation continues. Anyone who believes they have also been targeted for fraud is asked to call the financial crimes unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330.
