Windsor-Essex home sales down in September

Home sales in Windsor-Essex have continued to show significant declines in 2022, compared to the year before.
The Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors (WECAR) has released its home sales report for September, showing for the third month in a row a steep drop in sales year-to-year.
Sales in Windsor-Essex dropped 41.9 per cent compared to September 2021, with 403 units sold this year compared to 694 last year.
Market activity in Windsor-Essex also went down in September year-to-year, with 885 listings and an almost 15 per cent decline from 2021. Market activity in 2022 as a whole, however, is still up 17.7 per cent from 2021, with a total of 9,686. At the time of the report, there were 1,457 active listings in the region.
The average price of a home for sale in Windsor-Essex went slightly down in September, to $523,928, down 4.8 per cent from $550,763 the same month in 2021. That figure was stabilized since the average price began to decline in March of this year.
